How to hit the softball

The exemplary student will consistently demonstrate all of the following:

  • Ready position: Side on stance in a balanced position with knees bent and feet shoulder width apart.
  • Bat grip - knuckles lined up and both hands close together.
  • Bat is raised up above shoulder level at a 70-90 degree angle.
  • Transfer weight from back to front by taking a small step towards pircher.
  • Batter swings through the hit and makes powerful and direct contact with the ball as the bat is horizontal to the ground.
  • The hip and torso rotate with the bat and hips finish square to the direction of the hit.
  • Bat follow through continues up and over the opposite shoulder.
